The Internet’s potential to enhance political participation is manifold. As the digital world has been and still is moving into our daily lives, business, communication and even public administration, the ever shifting possibilities and the increasing access can form a new understanding and execution of democratic participation. The main questions in this talk will be: Why is it necessary to make further progress in this area? What might these forms of participation look like and what does it mean for politicians and the citizen?
Robin Sontheimer is a ‘strategic designer’ studying at TU Delft, currently writing his Master Thesis on new ways of political participation. His favourite question is ‘why…?’ and he believes that if nowadays everything is possible, the opposite is too.
